Dan Jones, US Army (ret.) and Tammy Jones are committed to providing a loving home for senior and special needs dogs and giving them the special care and attention they deserve.
Dan and Tammy decided to fill their empty nest by moving to the country and starting Dogwood Acres. They were inspired first by Nikki, a beagle who was found with a hunting collar embedded in her neck, a tumor in her armpit, needed 16 teeth removed, and who had such a severe ear infection, her ear was mangled. They were further inspired by Agnus, or “Aggie” as we called her; a very senior beagle found stray that was completely deaf and blind. We felt she was aptly named because Agnus means “holy,” and God surely was watching over her out there on her own for her to make it. We had a wonderful 9 months loving and spoiling her before she passed of congestive heart failure.
Dan and Tammy have 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter who was just born! Their daughter, Kacey, also gives the dogs tons of love and treats regularly and assists with their care! All of the grandchildren and children also help out by sharing hugs and pets and throwing a ball every now and then!
